Optimized Start/Stop (OSS) is a smart scheduling system that uses machine learning to turn your equipment on and off at the most efficient times, maximizing energy savings and extending equipment lifespan. It gathers data from various sources such as weather data, occupancy, ambient building temperature, etc., and adjusts to the users operational goals, displaying efficiency results in an easily understandable dashboard.

Optimized Start/Stop offers:

  • 3 operational modes: OSS can be set to meet your goals for the property.
    • Comfort mode ensures you are reaching desired set points just prior to occupancy for the day.
    • Energy Savings mode minimizes energy consumption in reaching your targets.
    • Balanced mode provides a measured ramp between both comfort and savings.
  • Current & historical views: The dashboard highlights current weather, operational mode settings at the building level, and the comfort index (average difference of setpoint and temperature at occupancy start for the day). View historical trends over any time period to get insights into run-time saved, start-up details, and problematic devices not keeping up with expected performance.
  • Command & control scheduling: OSS is your assistant in optimizing the schedules for the equipment performance in your building, however, you can also take advantage of KODE OS command & control functionality to make scheduling adjustments as needed, from the same user interface. Use the data analyzed to pinpoint devices with issues, alert your team for repairs and once the issue has been resolved, alert your tenants that the fix is under control.

Optimized Start/Stop empowers sustainability and facilities teams to:

  • Optimize schedules to maximize efficiency: Ensure that equipment is operating to reach the desired setpoints, adjusting setting automatically and cutting out excessive run-times and energy consumption.
  • Proactively manage building systems: Monitor, identify and address potential inefficiencies before they escalate.
  • Optimize maintenance resources: Pinpoint problem devices and equipment and allocate labor more effectively to high-priority tasks.
  • Extend equipment life: Reduce excessive run-times of equipment. Track equipment lifecycles and turn reactive repairs into proactive and budgeted replacements.

The OSS dashboard begins with a snapshot of your property and the external factors impacting internal comfort levels. Here you’ll be able to view the operational mode for the building, any deviations between set points and occupancy start times, and how many devices have hit their targets today. The total devices currently optimized and time stamped data averages will give you an instant read on the health of the equipment.

OSS’ historical data equips you with the possibility to look back over time to determine the useful life of equipment and devices currently scheduled. Visualize where your equipment is not meeting expectations and alert your staff with actionable insights.

Optimized Start/Stop uses machine learning to understand how each device within your space operates and optimizes them based on real data and predictions on scheduling, weather, occupancy and more. It enables stakeholders to take control of their equipment schedules, ensuring that each device is performing at optimal capacity to reach the desired setpoints, reducing excess operational time which in hand reduces energy consumption all while maintaining high comfort levels for the occupants.
