Integration of the building automation system in The Guardian

The Guardian Building is a National Historic Landmark. It is a timeless representation of creativity and achievement that has stood the test of time. It represents a past era enriched by people who believed in the success of Detroit and its diverse culture. As one of the most significant Art Deco skyscrapers in the world, KODE Labs and Green Building Automation felt a strong conviction to bring The Guardian Building into the 21st Century by future proofing its building systems.

Green Building Automation and KODE Labs have changed all of that. They were able to take our four major systems and integrate them into a simple front end platform. Not only the BAS systems but also damper controls, pumps and the like. It has definitely been a game changer for the building engineers. As we move forward we are adding controls on other equipment throughout the building and integrating it into the new system. The Guardian Building engineers no longer have to go to the plant to check the temperature in any given space. The system can be accessed from their mobile device.

Inside the Dashboard: Charlie Cochrane’s AI-Powered Batch Update, Ontology & Point Mapping for Building Integrators

What does the Device and Point Ontology workflow do? Building data is only useful if it’s structured correctly, and that’s still one of the biggest problems in smart buildings today. Devices come in with inconsistent naming, unorganized point structures, and little standardization across systems. Before teams can build analytics, automate workflows, or deploy AI, someone […]

How KODE OS Brings Command and Control to Smart Buildings

Why Smart Buildings Need More Than Software Most smart buildings today are surrounded by technology, but very few are truly unified by it. Controls, dashboards, analytics, reporting tools, energy applications, the stack keeps growing, yet operations still feel disconnected. KODE OS is built to solve exactly that problem: a single, open, agnostic operating layer that […]

A Day in the Life of an Energy and Sustainability Manager: Measuring Building Performance Across a Portfolio

For an Energy and Sustainability Manager, the day does not start with strategy. It starts with pressure. A utility spike at one site. Missing data in another. A reporting deadline that is getting closer. A carbon target that leadership wants updated. A budget variance that finance needs explained. And behind all of it, the same […]

Inside the Dashboard: Clay Curlee’s Workspace Utilization Across Portfolios, Buildings, and Spaces

What does the Workspace Occupancy & Utilization dashboard do? The Workspace Occupancy & Utilization dashboard provides a unified view of how space is actually used across portfolios, buildings, and individual spaces. Most organizations already have occupancy data, but it’s fragmented across different systems: sensor pilots, access control, Wi-Fi triangulation, and booking tools. Each source tells […]
