Independent research recognizes KODE OS as the building operating system connecting fragmented systems, data and workflows across complex real estate portfolios
DETROIT, MI — October 5, 2026 — KODE Labs, the company building the intelligence infrastructure for the physical world, today announced that it has been named a Leader in the Verdantix Green Quadrant: Unified Building Orchestration Platforms (2026).

The independent research considered 48 vendors available in the market, while fully evaluating 12 top vendors providing unified building orchestration platforms, a category designed to help building owners and operators address fragmented systems, increasing operational complexity and shortages of skilled staff. The assessment positions KODE Labs in the Leaders quadrant based on its capabilities and market momentum.
For KODE Labs, the recognition reflects a thesis and model the company has pursued since its founding: buildings do not need another disconnected application. They need an operating layer capable of bringing existing systems, data and workflows together and turning intelligence into coordinated action.
“KODE OS turns disconnected building systems into coordinated workflows,” the Verdantix report states.
KODE OS was built around that principle. Rather than requiring owners/operators to replace existing building infrastructure or standardize around a single controls vendor, KODE connects mixed-vendor environments through more than 250 connectors (APIs) built and maintained in-house, without requiring a proprietary KODE gateway or controls hardware in the building.
From there, KODE OS creates a common operating layer across building systems and applications, allowing teams to connect data, coordinate workflows across sites and verify that actions produced the intended result. That architecture underpins KODE’s approach across building management, fault detection and diagnostics, digital commissioning, analytics, utility intelligence, asset operations and AI.
“For years, we have believed that the biggest challenge in the built world isn’t a lack of technology. It’s fragmentation,” said Etrit Demaj, Co-Founder of KODE Labs. “Buildings are full of powerful systems, but they were never designed to operate together. We built KODE OS to change that, to create one operating layer that connects what is already there, gives the data context and allows people and AI to actually act on it. To see independent research recognize KODE in this category is an important validation of the direction we’ve been committed to from the beginning.”
Verdantix’s assessment highlighted KODE OS capabilities including its ability to unify mixed-vendor building systems without requiring standardization and its approach to verifying whether corrective action has actually resolved an identified fault. KODE’s Functional Testing Tool, for example, can re-test an equipment operating sequence following a repair rather than relying solely on the closure of a work order.
The recognition comes as building operations increasingly move beyond dashboards and recommendations toward platforms capable of coordinating action across systems and portfolios. KODE’s approach centers on four connected capabilities: Connect, Unify, Orchestrate and Verify, connecting existing systems without proprietary hardware, establishing a common ontology and data model, coordinating workflows across sites, and confirming that actions deliver the intended operational result.
Today, KODE OS provides a centralized operating environment for building owners and enterprises managing increasingly complex portfolios, helping teams reduce fragmentation while creating the data and operational foundation required for automation and AI.
“The industry is entering a very different phase,” added Gentrit Gojani, Co-Founder and CTO of KODE Labs. “Connecting data was step one. The opportunity now is to understand that data in context, make decisions from it and safely turn those decisions into action across the physical world. That is the infrastructure we have been building toward.”

KODE Labs is the intelligence layer for the physical world. Founded in Detroit, KODE Labs developed KODE OS, the operating system and ontology for the built world, connecting, normalizing and modeling building systems and operational data into one intelligent layer.
KODE OS enables organizations to manage building operations, energy, maintenance, analytics, automation and AI across complex portfolios without replacing the systems already in place. Through a growing ecosystem of integrations and applications, KODE helps owners, operators and enterprises move from fragmented building technology toward coordinated, intelligent operations. kodelabs.com
